Yazmeen Ahmad (b. 2000) is an illustrator based in the sunny island of Singapore.

 

Known for being a reserved individual, Yazmeen uses her practice as a platform to express her love for the smaller things in her life. She views her art throughout the years as her very own storybook; a visual timeline featuring the things or people, either in her past or present, that she finds herself being preoccupied by. Though she regards the digital medium as her main weapon of choice, she enjoys exploring with different artistic styles, mediums, and pretty much anything she can get her hands on to create. In her personal life, Yazmeen enjoys playing video games, and travelling - two of her biggest sources of inspiration.

Yazmeen recently graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Fine Arts (Distinction).

"As an illustrator, my art is not created to inspire change or send a message. As a matter of fact, I draw what/ who I want in the pursuit of happiness. I do, however, hold a certain degree of fascination for the faces of people I come across in my life as I see them as a visual representation of their personal narrative. In turn, I believe that everyone's story is connected, one way or another, and the people I gravitate towards are the people who I see myself in. What I look like and the general metrics used to measure me as a human being do not matter. If you need to know the kind of individual I am, you only need to look into my illustrations."
